Visiting the Towns

Davis and Thomas

The towns of Davis and Thomas are both small towns, about 2 miles apart, and about 10-15 minutes north of the wedding location on Appalachian Highway (the single main road through the area). Each has a small, walkable area of shops, eateries, and galleries.

Davis, WV

Davis is a couple of minutes south of Thomas and about 10-15 minutes north of the wedding location at Timerberline Mountain.

Davis has more sit down restaurants than Thomas, as well as a few craft-type galleries. Expect most establishments to be small, casual, and likely crowded the weekend of the wedding.

Favorites in the small walkable area (highlighted on the map) are Siriani’s for pizza and other Italian food, Milo’s Cafe (inside Bright Morning Inn), and Mountaintop Brewing Company.

Our favorite spot in the area is the bar at The Billy Motel, technically in Davis, but a short drive north of the walkable town toward Thomas.

Thomas, WV

We love to visit Thomas for the small shops, great café’s, unique art galleries, and the mountain-hip vibe. Other than a couple of favorite spots in the town of Davis, Thomas is where we spend most of our time when not hiking and visiting waterfalls.

The walkable area (highlighted on the map) is Front Street (Rt 32S). This is the place to visit in town. Additional parking is available below the main road.

Pretty much everything here is a favorite. It won’t take you long to walk the length of front street and visit any spot that catches your eye. It’s worth planning to make a stop in Thomas!
